Healthy ready to use batter at door step…

Finally the day has arrived when I pen down recipes that I have tested and tried. I am not claiming that I have come up with all of the recipes. Some of them are my mom’s and some from other websites and Youtube.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I always look for healthy ways to start the day. A complete wholesome breakfast is essential to keep you going all day long. One mistake that many people make is either skipping on breakfast or skipping it out on it altogether. This is a terrible idea because your body needs nutrition after many hours of working all through the night.

The typical South Indian breakfast of idli, or dosa with sambar and chutney is considered to be a complete meal comprising of all the major food groups needed for the body.  Yes I know that the process of soaking and grinding for the batter can be a tedious process which makes you want to skip out on the idea of making breakfast altogether. But never worry, because here is a solution for you.

Farmz to familiez is a brand that supplies ready-to-cook, fresh batter at your doorstep as early as 8am (so no excuses to not eat in the morning). Make sure to place your order a day before to get it delivered the next morning.

I got a chance to try these batters and here are my thoughts on the same.

Here is below what Farmz to families supplies.

  • Multigrain Batter
  • Appam Batter
  • Multi dal (adai batter )
  • White batter
  • Multi millet batter

and there is a lot more which will be mentioned in multiple posts.

First up, my order was delivered on time and it was very well packed.

I decided to start with dosas, because who doesn’t love a good crispy dosa. The batter consistency is a bit viscous and it is recommended that you add water to the batter before starting to make dosas. Salt is pre-added, but you can definitely add a little more as per your taste.

Personally I love cripsy dosas for which you need a slightly more watery batter. If you want a slightly thicker dosa, then you can use a more viscous batter.

Obviously you cannot east dosa alone, so here are 2 of my favorite chutney recipes for you to try. Make sure to serve it with your hot dosa.

COCONUT CHUTNEY:

Ingredients

1 cup grated or sliced coconut
2 small green chilly
1 tbs rosted channa dal

salt according to taste

Grind all these ingredients in a mixer,  add water only if required. It should not be too liquidy.

For the seasoning.
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp jeera
2 to 3 curry leaves
1 tsp ghee

1 green chilly

GROUNDNUT (PEANUT) CHUTNEY

Ingredients

1 cup groundnuts
1 small fine chpped and deep fried onions
2 small green chilly
1 tbs rosted channa dal
small portion of grated ginger

salt according to taste

Roast the groundnuts. some prefer to deskin the peanuts, but i do not like it that way.
Grind all these ingredients n a mixer,  add water only if required.

For the seasoning

1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp jeera
2 to 3 curry leaves
1 tsp ghee

1 green chilly

Of course this is not the be-all-end-all of chutneys. There are many ways to go about it, but this is my favourite.

The batter had the perfect balance or rice and urad dal because the dosas came out amazingly and my family loved it.

I have a few more recipes to write and a few more of their products to try, which I shall do in the next post.
